ORIGIN STORY
Welcome every patron
— and attract even more.
JP Lincoln, the founder of Crier Communications — a Los Angeles public relations, social media, and website development agency — has worked with a Lima, Peru-based software and SEO development team led by Carlos Maruffo for nearly two decades. When one of Crier's clients got hit with a predatory compliance lawsuit, Carlos and his team sprang into action, pushing that client's accessibility score high enough to discourage any future lawyers from looking their way again.
In the process, they discovered the velocity of ADA lawsuits being filed nationwide is truly staggering, while 95.9% of the top one million home pages have detectable accessibility failures (WebAIM Million, 2026). That shuts out patrons with visual, hearing, mobility, or cognitive disabilities, and 1 in 4 U.S. adults has a disability (CDC). Beyond business-crushing lawsuits — everyone should have easy access to what the web has to offer.
Accessible websites are also easier for search engines to understand. Which makes sense: if a page works for a blind patron using assistive software, Google and AI search can read it too. Access and ranking go together.
That was the aha moment that led to…

LEADERSHIP
The team running the business.
Marketing, partnerships, and operations — the work that turns a product into a company.
Misty Lamb
CHIEF MARKETING OFFICER
Misty served as Crier Communications' social media manager and owns brand, content, and demand generation — and is unapologetically allergic to vague compliance jargon.
David Chen
HEAD OF BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT
David runs outreach to library consortia, state libraries and platform vendors, and the relationships that bring Accessrank to public library systems. Eight years in library and government SaaS partnerships.
Katie Cycan
OPERATIONS MANAGER
Katie keeps the company running — finance, HR, customer success operations, and the unglamorous infrastructure that lets everyone else move fast. She served as Vice President at Crier Communications before joining the founding team.
ENGINEERING & COMPLIANCE
The team building the solution.
Source-code remediation isn't a magic widget. It's careful engineering by people who know the standards inside out.
Arturo Maruffo
LEAD ENGINEER
Arturo leads platform engineering — the audit engine, the rules pipeline, and the testing workflows for vendor platforms like BiblioCommons, Polaris, Sierra, and OverDrive. Previously a staff engineer at a developer tooling startup acquired in 2024.
Emerson Jara
SENIOR ENGINEER
Emerson owns the source-code remediation tooling — the part that turns audit findings into fixes your library's developers can merge, and evidence-backed issue reports your platform vendor can act on. Background in compiler engineering and developer experience.
Jordan Bell
COMPLIANCE OFFICER
Jordan is the firm's resident WCAG, Section 508, and ADA Title II specialist — every audit goes through their review before going to a customer. They lead manual accessibility testing using assistive technology.
